This 13-day journey showcases Vietnam’s most iconic highlights, from Hanoi’s historic charm to the karst landscapes and rural calm of Ninh Binh. The itinerary continues with a tranquil cruise in Lan Ha Bay, followed by the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An and the imperial heritage of Hue. From the vibrant energy of Ho Chi Minh City, the journey slows along the peaceful waterways of the Mekong Delta. Designed as a self-guided experience, the program lets you explore at your own pace while enjoying seamless arrangements including hotels, domestic flights, transfers, a Lan Ha Bay/Halong Bay cruise, and a Mekong Delta excursion.
Arrive in Hanoi, the capital of unified Vietnam, one of the most charming cities in South East Asia with its authenticity, large shady avenues, numerous lakes, manicured gardens and well-preserved architecture. Meet your guide & driver, then transfer to your hotel.
17:00: Starting our excellent street food walking tour in old quarter of Hanoi along the perimeter of the market, dozens of street hawkers sell a staggering variety of produce from live seafood to exotic fruits and spices. Our expert English-speaking local guide will give you an insight into the intricacies and traditions of Vietnamese food culture including details on ingredients and historical backgrounds of popular northern dishes. We eat as we go, trying seasonal fruits and sampling a tasty French-inspired snack from a street cart.
Walking through the maze of bustling streets that make up Hanoi’s Old Quarter, we tempt our tastebuds with the famed Hanoi dish Banh Cuon at a local eatery. Watch in awe as the skilled chefs demonstrate for you how this tasty dish is put together. Continuing into the atmospheric heart of the Old Quarter, we wander past street stalls and quiet residential lanes where you can observe local life that has changed little since Hanoi was founded over 1000 years ago.
Our next two snack stops are at outdoor barbeque stalls. We sit down with the Hanoi locals and sample various meat, vegetable and bread specialties that are flame grilled over hot coals for extra flavour. It’s then time for dessert as we venture down a small alley to join in the local tradition of feasting on fresh fruit served in a cup and smothered with crushed iced and condensed milk – this speciality is one not to be missed!
Your local guide will then take you to one of Hanoi beer corner, you can enjoy Hanoi beers.
Overnight in Hanoi
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your local guide at 08:30 and start your city tour with a visit to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, founded in 1076. Known locally as Quoc Tu Giam, this place of learning was established inside a temple to educate Vietnam’s nobles, scholars, and society’s elites. Its well-preserved architecture and tranquil gardens offer intriguing glimpses into Vietnam’s past.
Later on, take a walk around the Old Quarter, also known as "the 36 streets" and stop at Hoan Kiem Lake to learn more about the legend of the lake and the temple of Jade. Visit St. Joseph’s Cathedral, one of the first buildings built by French colonists during their expansion in Indochina and still intact in Hanoi after two fierce wars, and then emerge in the serene and peace ful atmosphere of Pagoda Ba Da, hidden in a very quiet corner in the middle of Hanoi's busy traffic, just a few steps from the cathedral.
In the afternoon (12:30-16:30), you will discover the different neighborhoods of Hanoi on the back of an Minks Motorbike. First stop at a local restaurant in Ba Dinh District, where you can taste one of the city's specialties, “pho" or rice noodles, served in a variety of ways: rolled, stirred, and fried. After having filled your stomach with delicious food, head off to Long Bien Bridge, a historic bridge across the Red River that was built by the French from 1898 to 1902 and designed by Gustave Eiffel.
Next stop is Hanoi’s largest open-air second-hand market in Hai Ba Trung district. Emerge yourself in the narrow alleys of residential areas nearby, then take a walk around a wet market to learn about ingredients used daily in Vietnamese meals and taste tropical fresh fruits. Continue heading towards Dong Da District, the most densely populated area of Hanoi with more than 400.000 residents per km2. Stop at the train street, where houses are built just a few meters away from the railway. Later on, visit a local house with a separate kitchen and bathroom that brings back memories of Hanoi in the 1960s. The journey concludes with Hanoian egg coffee at an old coffee shop. Return to your hotel at around 16:30. Overnight in Ha Noi
After breakfast, depart from Hanoi at 08:00 for a 4-hour drive to Mai Chau through mountains, fertile valleys, and rural villages. Stop en route at Thung Khe Pass, also called White Rock Pass, to admire the whole valley at the foot of the pass.
On arrival at the picturesque Mai Chau valley, surrounded by karst rock formations and rice fields, enjoy your lunch and spend the afternoon cycling through the villages of Thai minorities. Continue to Pu Luong through a breathtaking mountain pass with panoramic views of the valley. Overnight in Pu Luong
Enjoy breakfast amidst the peaceful scenery of the mountains. At 8:30, head out to discover the surrounding villages.
Start to descend into the beautiful valley, where you walk around rice terraces. Then walk through small paths as you slowly approach the charming Uoi village, perched at the foot of a mountain.
Continue walking downhill to a local home, where you take a rest and take a bike to cycle through the rice paddies of Lan village and learn about the traditional weaving of Black Thai people.
Continue to Hieu Village, where you have a good chance to cool off in the natural s wimming pool at the foot of Hieu Waterfalls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the reserve. Ride back to the local home, where the car is ready to take you back to your accommodation. Overnight in Pu Luong.
After breakfast, leave Pu Luong at 08:00 for Ninh Binh. On the way, stop to visit the Citadel of the Ho Dynasty, which was the capital of Vietnam from 1398 to 1407. Recognized as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, the citadel is considered the only stone citadel remaining in Southeast Asia and one of the few remaining in the world. Continue to Ninh Binh, passing through the beautiful landscape with immense pineapple plantations.
Then head to the UNESCO-listed Trang An Landscape Complex, where you can unwind on a peaceful riverboat ride that passes through a series of caves. Trang An is sure to wow you with its spectacular landscape of jagged karst mountains and valleys. As you float alon g, take some photos of the enormous karst peaks that jut out from the green rice fields; this landscape is what gives this region the nickname "Halong on Land".
Overnight in Ninh Binh.
After breakfast at the hotel, depart at 8:00 to Tuan Chau Pier, where you will board a selected cruise for your overnight on Lan Ha Bay. Lunch will be served while the vessel starts cruising through thousands of limestone islets emerging from the emerald water.
Join in some activities such as kayaking or swimming, or just relax on the sun deck and enjoy the stunning scenery of this World Heritage Site. Dinner with fresh seafood and overnight on the cruise.

Enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the bay, followed by a light breakfast. As the cruise sails back to the pier, enjoy brunch on board while admiring the limestone rock formations glide by.
Upon disembarkation, your driver will be waiting to take you to Hanoi’s Noi Bai Domestic Airport for a short flight to Danang. Arrival in Danang, pick up and transfer to hotel in Hoi An
Overnight in Hoi An
This morning, depart at 08:30 for a cycling tour. Head off to Kim Bong village, known for its wood carving. At first, the artisans inherited the techniques from the northern Vietnamese. Later, through business exchange, they could successfully adopt the know-how of Chinese and Japanese sculptures and cultivate their own style. Walk around the village to understand their daily lives, and visit a carpenter's workshop to admire their talent.
Continue on the trails to Tra Nhieu village. Immerse yourself in the beautiful countryside while making several stops at local families. From Tra Nhieu, set off on a boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Cam Thanh village. Along the way, the landscapes of fishing farms and water palm trees will accompany you. On arrival in Cam Thanh, take a rest at a local fisherman’s house (Mr. Phong) and enjoy green tea and foot massages with medicinal herbs that were planted in the family garden. Participate in a simple cooking session where you can learn how to prepare some specialties, such as crispy Vietnamese pancakes, Tam Huu, and enjoy what you have made at lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a small round bamboo sampan basket boat to the water palm tree forest.
Transfer back to Hoi An Ancient Town in the afternoon for a pleasant walk through its narrow streets. Stop to visit the Japanese covered bridge, one of the Chinese communal halls, and former merchants’ houses. At The end of the day, enjoy a cup of tea at Reaching Out Tea House, a lovely and tranquil setting founded to help the disabled grow their artistic talents and lead independent lives through their art.
Return to your hotel at around 17:30 and overnight in Hoi An.

Today you have a chance to discover the vietnamese cuisine with Ms. Van at Green Bamboo cooking class.
Green Bamboo Cooking School in Hoi An offers a unique cookery class experience. Run by mutli-lingual Vietnamese chef Van, this class gives a fabulous insight into Vietnamese culinary skills in a friendly and relaxed setting.
This wonderful course is suitable for both experienced cooks wanting to learn new techniques or amateur chefs who simply want a fun day out.
Green Bamboo Class Details
We will pick you up around 08:00 – 08h 30 at your hotel.
You will then tour the local market with Van to buy ingredients and learn more about local produce.
Then we head back to Green Bamboo Cookery School to cook a variety of local dishes of your choice (see Menu).
You will have plenty of hands on participation.
Afterwards share your creations and a drink together around Van's kitchen table!
The school's location in Van's beautiful home ensures a truly memorable Vietnamese experience.

Breakfast and time at leisure until your driver transfers you to Da Nang airport for a short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. On arrival, you will meet your driver and transfer to hotel for your relax.
In the evening, we explore the nightlife of Saigon by SAIGON AFTER DARK TOUR BY VESPA (Joint tour) Time: 18:00-22.00
Hop on our vintage Vespas and explore Saigon like a local! We’ll take you to fabulous eating, drinking and music venues where you’ll get a true taste of Saigon nightlife.
The evening kicks off with drinks at a rooftop bar. Join your Vespa Adventures guide and fellow travelers for a toast while enjoying views over the Saigon skyline! Then the Vespas take you through the city, weaving through the buzzing thoroughfares of Saigon as well as narrow back alleys. Sitting on the back of our Vespas, you’ll be able to soak it all in: the glittering illuminated sites, the smells of streetside food stalls, the sounds of the city and more!
The tour includes stops at a mix of venues, giving you the opportunity to experience a truly local night out. We take you to two popular restaurants where you’ll sample several beloved Saigon dishes, all washed down with a cold drink. You’ll also kick back at a Vietnamese-style cafe, enjoying live music while sipping a beer or cocktail. And the night wraps up at a lively music bar where you can groove to the tunes alongside the hip young Vietnamese crowd!

Depart from your hotel at 8:30 for Ho Chi Minh city tour
You will meet your tour guide and depart for an exciting tour across several districts of the city.
First stop is the FITO museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine), which offers an in-depth look at the fascinating world of traditional Vietnamese medicine.
Later on, let’s go back in time to delve into the history of Vietnam with a stop at Đỗ Phủ cafe, which was once the operational base of the Liberation Army of South Vietnam. While the coffee is prepared, discover the secret bunker of weapons used for the Attack on the Independence Palace during the 1968 offensive and take pictures of the old car used to transport weapons to Cu Chi tunnels.
Enjoy your coffee in the atmosphere of this historical house before heading to the hidden Van Phat Pagoda in Jewelry Street of ChinaTown in District 5. You will be amazed by the vibrant colors of the typical Chinese architecture and especially by the ten thousand Buddha statues inside the pagoda. Here at the pagoda you can also learn how Vietnamese people preserve the cremation urns of their family members. Continue to the French Quarter in District 1 to visit Saigon Central Post Office, a vital part of Ho Chi Minh City's colonial legacy and stroll along Nguyen Hue street and Dong Khoi Street, the busiest streets of the city.
The day concludes with the spectacular A O Show (18:00) at the historic Saigon Opera House. Enjoy an hour of acrobatic acts, contemporary dance, and traditional Vietnamese music, and get a deeper look into Vietnamese art and culture.
Return to your hotel at around 19:15 and overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Today you leave bustling Ho Chi Minh City behind and depart for a full-day trip on the Mekong Delta.
Meet your local guide at 08:00 in your hotel lobby and be ready for a 2-hour drive to Ben Tre province, the largest area of coconut plantations in Vietnam. Situated on the Mekong Delta, Ben Tre is a land of coconuts, fruit orchards, rice fields, narrow canals, and wonderful scenery.
Arrive at Ham Luong pier and take a boat trip to explore the local life and family-owned business activities along the Ben Tre River, one of the Mekong River’s tributaries. Stop at a brick kiln and learn about a traditional method of making bricks. Continue to visit one of the plenty of coconut workshops along the waterway to discover how every single part of the coconut, including the shell, the meat, and the water, is processed to produce a variety of products: coconut milk, coconut candy, coconut oil, and even floor mats and charcoal.
Next stop is a sleeping mat workshop, where you can learn about hand weaving techniques and enjoy some fresh fruits and tea.
Later on, take a motor cart (xe lôi) or ride a bike on the shady paths of the peaceful countryside, passing by green rice fields and vegetable plains, to touch on real life and get to know tropical peasant culture.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant with local specialties such as elephant-ear fish and river shrimp.
In the afternoon, take a rowing boat on small canals shaded by wild coconut palm trees until Hung Vuong Pier, where your driver is ready to transfer you your homestay in Ben Tre.
In the evening, you participate in a cooking class and learn how to make "Bánh xèo" - Vietnamese pancakes made from rice milk. Dinner is ready to be served with fresh dishes cooked in local style, such as caramelized pork and fish soup, spring rolls, etc.
After dinner, relax in a lemongrass and ginger foot bath, a local therapeutic method to relieve the pain and fatigue of the legs. Overnight in Mekong Home.
After breakfast, start your cycling trip (from 2 to 2.5 hours) to the island of Oc on a concrete track lined with fruit trees and coconut trees. On the way, pass by the local market, where various local ingredients such as vegetables, meat, fruits, etc. are sold.
Cross a local Mekong River ferry to reach the island, from where you continue cycling on small paths dotted with small huts hidden in lush vegetation while seeing the daily life of the inhabitants of the Mekong Delta, governed by artisanal and agricultural activities. Stop at a fish farm to learn more about two species of catfish: ca tra (Pangasius hypophthalmus) and ca ba sa (Pangasius bocourti), raised in ponds.
Return to home and spend time at leisure until check-out at around 12:00.
Your driver is ready to transfer you back to Ho Chi Minh city for your flight back.
